Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Nightmares

Chapter 10: A Not So Secret Location.


Jared, Korrina, Christian and Dani were just finishing up a job they took not too long ago. This time, they went on a job to capture an outlaw Raticate, who, according to the job paper, kept stealing the local's food and supplies and hoarding them in a secret location.

"Give it up, Raticate! There's nowhere to hide now!" Jared just caught up to the Normal-type rat Pokemon, who was cornered behind a wall.

"Haha! You think you four can stop me? Well you're sadly mistaken!" Raticate started to dig into the ground, burrowing under the surfaces floor.

"Quick, Korrina and Christian, go after him!" Jared ordered.

"Right!" Both Riolu's used Quick Attack to follow the Raticate.

"You fools are stupid if you think you can catch up to me with your pitiful Quick Attacks!" Raticate taunted.

"That may be so, but remember, both of us have the type advantage here!" Christian reminded.

"...Gah! Well then, take... THIS!" Raticate opened his mouth, and a light blue, icey ball of energy formed in his mouth. Little lightning bolts were fired straight at Christian and Korrina.

"Wh-what?! That Raticate knows Ice Beam?!" Christian and Korrina avoided the attack, but it froze part of the ground.

Up above, Jared and Dani were preparing to attack once Raticate came up from the ground.

"I can't believe this Raticate is giving us all this trouble..." Jared said.

Dani nodded. "Yeah... Although hopefully Christian and Korrina can finish him off." As if on cue, Raticate jumped from the ground, with Christian and Korrina right behind him.

"Alright! Ready?" Jared asked Dani.

"Ready!" Jared fired a Thundershock at Raticate, while Dani jumped and hit the other Normal-type with a Return.

"Wh-what?!" Raticate was surprised by the double team Attack on him, and didn't even have time to move to avoid it. Raticate fell down on the ground, unconscious.

"Phew... Glad that's over with... Now we can finally go back to the Guild and rest..." Jared said.

After Team Aura gave Raticate to Officer Magnezone, the team received the normal prize they would get, which was 400 poke, a few gummies, and a Reviver Seed. After that, the team had dinner, and the next day they went outside to get some items from Treasure Town.

"Aaah... Nice to just relax…” Jared said.

“Yeah…” As Team Aura were walking around, they saw what looked like an entrance to some sort cafe.

“Huh?” Jared read the sign. ”Sorry! We’re not open yet! However, Spinda’s Cafe will soon be open to all customers in Treasure Town! Well that seems interesting. A cafe would be nice to just relax and hang out,” Jared said.

“None of us even drink coffee,” Christian pointed out. “What makes you assume that we’ll come here and get freaking caffeinated?”

“Hey, Starbucks has other stuff than just coffee. So this’ll probably be the same. Heck, Christian, this is the Pokemon world. There's probably going to be more than just coffee here,” Jared said.

After getting some items from Kangaskhan’s Storage to go on their next job and going back inside the Guild, Chatot called all four of them over.

“Ah! You four! Come over here for a sec.” All four of the members went over to Chatot. “You’ve become quite good with your work. I’m impressed with your capture with Drowzee, how you were able to rescue Dani from that trap in the dungeon a few days ago, and even managing to capture another outlaw today! Very outstanding!”

“Thank you,” everyone bowed.

“However, that’s not the main reason why you’re here. So, you’ll all be assigned a job worthy of a proper exploration team.”

“R-really?! Hooray!” Korrina and everyone cheered in happiness.

“Let me see your Wonder Map.” Korrina grabbed the Wonder Map from the bag, and opened it up.

“Treasure Town is located here. And over here is where we would like you to investigate.” Chatot pointed to an area on the map. “See? There’s a waterfall flowing here. By all appearances, it looks likes a normal waterfall. But we’ve received information that the waterfall might contain a secret. And that’s where you four come in. We want you to investigate the waterfall and determine what’s there. Understood?" Everyone nodded. "Great! Hurry up and pack. You'll be leaving in a few minutes."

"Did you hear that, Jared? We're going on a real mission today!" Korrina said with happiness.

"I know! Real first big mission ever since we formed an exploration team! And we can even bring along Christian and Dani, too!"

Team Aura then went outside, and started to head to the waterfall.

Jared, Christian, Korrina and Dani arrived at the waterfall. It was roaring loudly, water splashing down heavily every second.

“So this is the waterfall that supposedly has a secret…” Korrina went up to the waterfall, only to be pushed back by it. “Yow! That water’s coming down hard. Try going near the waterfall, guys.” Jared, Christian and Dani all went to the waterfall, only to be pushed back just like Korrina.

“It’s true! The water’s falling down heavily… If we were to fall down we’d probably be battered…” Christian said.

Just then, Jared felt a familiar feeling in his head. Ow... Great... Not another one of these again... Stupid dizziness feeling!... Jared saw an image in his head of a Pokemon jumping into the waterfall, and entering into some sort of cave. What the?! That was... That Pokemon almost looked like... Wigglytuff!

"Did you get that image as well?" Christian asked Jared. The Pikachu nodded.

"I'm guessing you two did as well." Both Christian and Dani nodded.

"What are you two talking about?" Korrina asked.

"All three of us got those dizzy spells. We saw a figure of a Pokemon jumping into the waterfall, and entering some sort of cave," Jared explained.

"So you're basically saying we need to jump into the waterfall?" Korrina asked. Jared, Christian and Dani all nodded. "Okay... If you say so..." All four of them backed up, and charged straight ahead into the raging current that was falling straight down.

"Ow... That hurt... Although luckily none of us fell down into the current," Jared said.

"Yeah..."

"Okay. We should start heading towards that cave area," Jared said. Everyone else nodded.

After traversing through the dungeon:

After exploring the dungeon, all four of them arrived into a cave with gems basically placed all over the cave floor and water on both sides of the floor.

“Wow! Look at all the gems sparkling!” Korrina and the rest walked a bit further, only to find a really big gem implanted in the wall.

“Wow! I’ve never seen a gem this huge! This would be an amazing treasure if we were to bring it back!” Korrina walked over to it, and tried to pull it. However, it would barely move. “Uurgh! Uuuurrgghh! Ugh… It’s not coming out… Jared, Christian, Dani, you guys try.”

All three of them went over to the gem, and tried to pull it out. However, even with all three of them trying to pull it, it still wouldn’t budge.

“Man… This gem is really caved in here..." Jared said.

“Here. Let me give it another try.” After Korrina tried to pull the gem again, everyone heard a ‘click’ noise come from the gem. A loud vibration noise could be heard, and a giant stream of water started flowing out.

“I guess that gem activated a switch which allowed a huge stream to flow!” Christian pointed out.

“Thank you Mr. Captain Obvious!” Jared said sarcastically.

“Brace yourself, guys…!”

“Ugh… Where am I…?” Jared asked, as he woke up.

“Why, you’re in the hot springs, young ‘un!” an old voice spoke.

“The hot springs?”

“Yup! Anyone is welcome to visit the hot springs! Yer friends are over there as well!” The Pokemon, who Jared identified as a Torkoal, said as he turned his body around. Jared saw Christian, Dani and Korrina all relaxing in the hot spring.

“Phew… That’s good…” Jared said.

“Hey! Why don’t you come in?” Christian asked.

“I will.” Jared smirked, and jumped in. For the rest of the day, the whole team relaxed and restored their energy in the spring. Later, they went to the Guild, and told Chatot of what had happened during their mission.
